vvorm: A Tech Demo

STARTED: Aug 24, 2013

ENDED: Oct 18, 2014

ASPECTS: Live Performance and Animation

A sequential art project created for The Projects↗, a festival of experimental comics and narrative arts in Portland, OR.

We made a sequential artwork that was designed to be performed live. “vvorm” was essentially a cross between a comic book and an animation, with each panel/frame getting queued manually and in time with a voice-acted narrative and an evocative soundscape. The story was relatively science-fictional, toying with things like virtual reality and the erosion of social norms in an online context. Inspired by our early experiences in AOL chat rooms and the present day dominance of social media, “vvorm” was meant to be a story about early adopters of a virtual reality space paralleling facebook.

First performed in August of 2013 at The Projects↗, a festival of experimental comics and narrative arts in Portland, OR and again at Mission Comics for the San Francisco 2014 Litquake↗ festival.
